Reese wagged his tail as they walked by the park, where Karmie played with her friends. 6.That night, her adults sat down with her. “Karmie,” they said, “we have some exciting news! We’re going to move to a new home soon.” Karmie felt her heart skip. 7. She held Reese's leash tightly as they walked to the moving truck. “I hope I like the new house,” she whispered to Reese. 8. When they arrived at the new house, Karmie took a deep breath and stepped inside. First, she saw her new bedroom. It was different, but still cozy, and her purple blanket was already on the bed. 9. In the new bathroom, her sparkly toothbrush was waiting by the sink, just like before. The kitchen smelled like pancakes, and Karmie noticed the sunlight pouring in through the windows, just like her old home. 10. That night she snuggled into her new bed. She still had her favorite things, her dog Reese, and most importantly, her family. “I think I’m going to love it here,” Karmie whispered, closing her eyes with a smile. 11. Everything in the museum had been made by a child. 3. The first thing they saw was a trampoline. John Jr and Vasi jumped around on it and Vasi did some cool flips. Then they saw some toy trucks that a 6 year old had invented. John Jr was really impressed by that. They saw braille used by blind people, Popsicles and magnetic locker paper all had been created by teenagers. 3. John Jr saw ear muffs and crayon holders were also invented by kids. John Jr was really surprised at the inventions of children. 4. John Jr and Vasi saw that Ben Franklin started inventing stuff as a young boy with his invention of swim flippers. They thought it was really neat that Christmas lights were also a kids idea. But the thing that amazed John Jr and Vasi was the invention of the snowmobile. 5. They followed its tracks deep into the forest, but the animal was too clever and always managed to escape. The hunters grew tired and hungry, so they decided to rest under a tree. As they lay there, they heard birds singing above them. The birds, noticing the hunters' plight, decided to help. They flew down and spoke to the hunters, saying that they knew the secret of jochi pintao. The birds revealed that the peccary had been protecting something valuable—a hidden food source that could sustain the Tacana people for generations. Guided by the birds, the hunters followed jochi pintao once more, this time without trying to catch it. The peccary led them to a clearing where they discovered an unusual plant growing in the ground. This plant was yuca. The hunters dug up the roots, and the birds taught them how to prepare and cook the yuca, turning it into a nourishing meal. The Tacana believed that the yuca was a gift from the forest spirits, given to them by jochi pintao and the birds to ensure their survival. From then on, yuca became a staple food for the Tacana people, and they honored the animals and the forest that provided for them. This story underscores the Tacana's deep respect for nature and their belief in the interconnectedness of all living things. It also highlights the importance of yuca as a life-sustaining resource, symbolizing cooperation between humans and the natural world.
