At the garden, Zippy met Viney Violet and Wriggly Worm. “Viney Violet, what are you growing?” asked Zippy. “Beautiful flowers!” said Viney Violet. On the way home, the moon hung high in the sky, bathing the ancient walled village in an unusually peaceful glow. The help from the Indians save 53 pilgrims from ultimately perishing. Most of the pilgrims died from diseases described as a mixture of scurvy, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. 5. The following year, the 53 pilgrims and 90 Wampanoag Indians had a celebration that we now call Thanksgiving. The Mayflower was torn apart after Christopher Jones passed away. 6.
